Privacy policy

Fairfield County Garage Door (legal entity to be confirmed, "we") runs this website and the phone number (475) 889-7939. We are a booking desk: we take enquiries about garage door repair and connect each one with a local garage door company that does the work. This page explains what that means for your information.
Draft. This page has not been reviewed by a Connecticut attorney and is not yet the operative policy. See site/brief.md §9.
What we collect
When you fill in the form: your name, phone number, email address if you give one, what you wrote in the message, which service and town you selected, the page you were on, and the time you submitted it. If you arrived from an advert or a link with tracking parameters, those are recorded too.
When you call (475) 889-7939: your phone number as presented by the network, the time and length of the call, the town or region your network reports, and — where calls are recorded — a recording of the call. Where call recording is in use you are told at the start of the call, before anything is recorded.
When you text (475) 889-7939: your phone number and the content of your messages, plus our replies.
When you browse: standard analytics about pages viewed and how you arrived, collected through Google Analytics. We do not use this to identify you by name.
We never ask for and do not want: payment card details, bank details, or a Social Security number. If a page or a text appears to ask you for any of those, it is not us. Payment for a repair happens directly between you and the garage door company.
Why we collect it, and who gets it
The purpose is to answer you and get your job to someone who can do it. Concretely:
- We use it to reply to you — by text first, by email if there is no phone number — and to ask the questions a technician needs answered.
- We pass it to one local garage door company. Your name, contact details, town, address if you gave one, and what you said about the door. One company, not several. We do not sell your details, we do not share them with a pool of contractors, and we do not pass them to anyone who did not ask for your job.
- We keep a record of the enquiry — what you said, when, how fast we replied, what we handed over — so there is an accurate account of what happened.
- We may contact you up to three times if you go quiet after asking for help, and we stop the moment you reply anything at all. Reply STOP to any text and we stop permanently.
Service providers who process this on our behalf — the telephone and messaging carrier, email, hosting, and the software that holds the enquiry record — see it only to provide that service and are not permitted to use it for anything else.
We will also disclose information where the law requires it, or where it is necessary to deal with a safety emergency or a legal claim.
What we don't do
We do not sell your personal information. We do not share it for cross-context behavioural advertising. We do not pass your number to multiple contractors so they can compete for your call. We do not use what you told us about your garage door for anything other than getting it fixed.
How long we keep it
| Enquiry records (form, text, call details) | 24 months |
| Call recordings, where made | 90 days |
| Enquiries that failed to send and were held for retry | 90 days, then deleted automatically |
| Analytics | As configured in Google Analytics, default 14 months |
Ask us to delete your information sooner and we will, except where we are required to keep a record — see the next section.
Your choices
- Stop the texts: reply STOP to any message from (475) 889-7939. It is immediate and permanent.
- See what we hold, correct it, or have it deleted: email privacy@fairfieldcountygaragedoor.com or call (475) 889-7939 and ask. We will respond within 45 days. We may need to confirm you are the person the information is about.
- Ask us not to pass it on: tell us before we hand the job over. We cannot un-send an enquiry already given to the garage door company; after that point, ask them directly.
- Connecticut residents have rights under the Connecticut Data Privacy Act to access, correct, delete and obtain a copy of personal data, and to appeal a refusal. Use the same contact details. If we refuse a request we will tell you why and how to appeal.
Once your details are with the garage door company, that company is responsible for what it does with them under its own policy. We will tell you which company has your enquiry if you ask.
Text messaging
If you check the text-message box on the form, you are agreeing to receive text messages from Fairfield County Garage Door about your request. Message frequency varies. Message and data rates may apply. Reply STOP to any text to opt out, or HELP for help. We do not share your mobile information or your text-messaging consent with third parties or affiliates for marketing purposes. Leaving the box unchecked does not affect your ability to call, text the number directly, or use the form; you can still reach us by phone.
Cookies and analytics
This site uses Google Analytics to count visits and see which pages people arrive on, including two events: submitting the form and tapping the phone number. Your browser's Do Not Track setting is respected where the analytics provider supports it. There are no advertising cookies and no third-party trackers beyond analytics on this site.
Children
This site is not for children and we do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 16.
Changes
If this policy changes, the date at the top changes with it. Material changes will be noted on this page.
